Malaysia scene

Malaysia has hosted the international XGames tournament organized by ESPN for the ASIA level in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006. X Games is one of the extreme sports that requires creativity, passion and high self-esteem. The uniqueness of this extreme sport is the variety of extreme tricks that can be done and new tricks emerge from time to time as a result of the creativity of the players themselves. Mastering new tricks is not easy and requires physical skills, patience and a high level of focus from the players.

The country's X-Games fans are more concentrated in urban areas due to training facilities that meet extreme sports specifications. As a result, the birth of X-Games athlete talent, especially for Skateboard events, is still limited in some areas.

Three national skateborder legends, namely Johary Fitry bin Khairuddin (Joe Ipoh), Adlan Farazi bin Mohd Ariff (Boy Ipoh) and Ahmad Fadzli Musa (Pa'din Musa), have revived the Skateboard phenomenon and won several tournaments in addition to making Malaysia famous in this sport. During the revival of this sport in the mid-1980s, it was more synonymous with the title of street sport where Skateboarding enthusiasts often practiced on open streets to master several tricks such as pop-shuvit frontside and backside, ollie up and down, 180 backside and frontside.

In response to community concerns, efforts to develop extreme sports at that time could be seen through the provision of skateboard park in local communities to encourage fans of this sport to practice in safe locations.
